RNF Weekly Chat Archive: August 2024

This post is an archive of Episodes 1 and 2 of RNF Weekly Chat. As well as the old intro on the Home Page before the blog properly started. The weekly post is hosted on the Home Page. Please excuse any typos or poor grammar because I wrote both of these on the days of posting.

The Home Page Before The Blog's Proper Start:
 Hello. Welcome to RNF Central. Congrats on finding this place. This is a still in development website which will hopefully act as an archive for all content from RNF Evan. Sorry, the website doesn't have much to it right now. There will be a lot more stuff here later, but for now some of my newest content is here for your enjoyment. Hope you enjoy, and thank you for your support. Hopefully, as time passes this website will be more fleshed out and I'll see you back here again.

Episode 1: August 18th, 2024-August 24th, 2024:
Hello hello, my paisanos. Welcome to the first RNF Weekly Chat. Every Sunday I hope to get on this Home Page and just yap a little. We'll talk a little about what you can expect this week as far as RNF content is concerned, and throw in a few extra fun segments just to add some more meat to this.

For now, let's begin with the weekly schedule. Here's what you can expect to premiere in the next few days.

Weekly Schedule (All times are in Eastern Time):
Sunday, August 18th:
* Nothing but this chat.

Monday, August 19th:
* 2 PM: RNF Pokémon Quests Episode 70 (YouTube @RNFPQ)

Tuesday, August 20th:
* 2 PM: RNF Pokémon Quests Episode 71

Wednesday, August 21st:
* 2 PM: RNF Pokémon Quests Episode 72

Thursday, August 22nd:
* 2 PM: RNF Pokémon Quests Episode 73

Friday, August 23rd:
* 2 PM: RNF Pokémon Quests Episode 74

Saturday, August 24th:
* 2 PM: RNF Pokémon Quests Episode 75

As you can see this week is filled with just Pokémon Quests. I have a lot of episodes to catch up on uploading before Legends ZA comes out, so you can expect a flood of episodes releasing for the next couple of months. It's been about 4 months since I uploaded the last episode, and that's because I wanted to wait until the RNF brand would officially launch. Luckily we stopped at a pretty nice point. Not only was it the funny sex number (episode 69), but it was also the end of Volume 4. Volume 5 will feature my first playthrough of The Indigo Disk DLC for Scarlet and Violet, so I hope you all enjoy that. Of course, we have a few fun side episodes happening before that.

As for Danganronpa: LIVe or Die, I mentioned at the end of the last episode that I need some more time to record and set up more of a backlog. That's totally my fault, I need to learn how to make daily uploads work and in learning, I messed up. At the very least I am learning, so I can guarantee when Danganronopa does return the daily uploads won't stop until the series ends. As for when that'll be, I'm aiming for September 9th. So it'll just be a few weeks of hiatus.

Anyway, I know this week's schedule is pretty bare bones, but at the very least I hope it gives you an idea about what this segment of the Weekly Chat will be like.

Song of the Week:
This is one of the other segments I was talking about earlier that'll help add some more meat to this program. Music is one of those mediums I'm not super knowledgeable in, and as such I don't really plan on starting any projects centered around it. So I thought having a segment about it on this show would be fun. Pretty much I'm just going to share a song I'm obsessed with that week and hope to spread some good music. Maybe you'll discover a new band you like or new tastes you never knew you had.

I like to think I have a decently varied taste in music, so even if you don't like my pick one week I hope in the coming weeks you will. For now, let's start this segment off with a bang. My favorite song ever (at this current moment).

Tek It by Cafuné

I guarantee even if you don't know the song by name, if you're on TikTok you definitely heard this song. You may know it as "I Watch the Moon" due to the chorus dominating TikTok for a bit there. In fact, TikTok was where I discovered it. It's a little embarrassing to admit, but I first heard this song on a Mario and Sonic at the Olympics Game edit. Hey, I discovered a great song so who cares how I found it. It may have been cringey, but you know what...that edit was great! I don't even care! It also led me to listen to the rest of Cafuné's discography which is all amazing.

This specific song though is their most popular, and for good reason. It just has such a nice moody feel to it. I specifically also really like the imagery in it, especially the chorus. Even though it's just sound I get such a clear picture in my head every time I hear it. I think everyone can relate to the lyrics, about a strained relationship. It may be a concept done in a million different songs, but I really enjoy the way Cafuné conveys it. It's one of the few songs I can listen to no matter my mood. I can just let whatever I'm feeling out of my system and get enveloped in the melancholic cadence. It just makes me feel, and no matter how many times I hear it the feeling never goes away.

The song was originally released in 2021 on their album Running. The lyric video I linked has over 18 million views now, with the official animated music video sitting at 35 million. I really like the animated music video as well, but I generally prefer lyric videos over more traditional music videos. Hence why I linked the lyric one. But the animated one is very beautiful, and if you like the song I recommend checking it out. In 2023 the song went Platinum. Taking this relatively unknown band into a new stratosphere in their career. It really does show the power TikTok can have. Sedona Schat and Noah Yoo have been a duo since 2014 and thanks to TikTok, almost 10 years later, they started growing in the popular consciousness. I feel TikTok is great not just for musicians, but creators as a whole. I've discovered so many great artists of all kinds thanks to that app. Apparently just yesterday too the song went Gold in Poland. Even now it's still growing in popularity. Anyway, I fucking love this song, everything aside. I think it's one that's gonna stick with me for a long long time. That's why it's the song of the week.
Congrats to Cafuné on all their success. I highly recommend checking their other songs too. They released their newest EP Love Songs for the End back in October, and it may be my favorite collection of songs from them yet. However as far as individual songs go, Tek It stands at the top for me.
And no, I don't know what the title means. Google has failed me.

This Week's Character Birthdays:
My brand revolves a lot around a lot of discussion around fiction. As you can imagine there are a lot of characters I love. And one way people often celebrate their favorite characters is by doing something for their canonical birthdays. Unfortunately, I love too many characters to be able to do this often. Sometimes I lose track of all those birthdays. So in this segment, we will celebrate some of my favorite characters' birthdays that fall within the next week. I'll also throw in other characters I may not be as familiar with, but I know have a loving fanbase. So let's give a big hoorah to the following characters.

August 18th:
* Bulma Briefs from the Dragon Ball franchise.
I don't know much about Dragon Ball. I used to watch it as a kid, but my knowledge is limited. I've always loved Bulma though. Especially with her design from the original series. You gotta love a brilliant ambitious girl genius. Happy Birthday, Bulma.
* Anzu Mazaki/Téa Gardner, the original Yu-Gi-Oh gal.
Yu-Gi-Oh's first major female character. It's hard to hate her, but damn did they really underutilize her. Despite the fact she doesn't duel much I do really enjoy her deck. It's perfect for her character. I also have to give some love to her friendship-obsessed, pervy incarnation from the abridged series. Happy Birthday, Anzu/Téa.
* Percy Jackson from the book series of the same name. A childhood classic for me.
I had a major Greek mythology phase as a child so naturally I fell head over heels for Percy Jackson. I watched both movies, I read all the books that came out, and I was making fanfiction in my head before I even knew what fanfiction was. Unfortunately, I dropped off on the series when I became a teenager. Haven't even watched that new Disney+ show, but I will always remember this franchise and the good times it brought me. Happy Birthday, Percy,

August 19th:
* Mr. Snuffleupagus, the full-body Muppet from Sesame Street.
I love this goofy puppet. He's just so silly. I don't remember him on any of the episodes I watched as a kid, but I became aware of him as I grew older. Of course, I don't watch Sesame Street a whole lot, but I'm sure I'd love this guy if I did. Fun Fact: His first name is Aloysius. So Happy Birthday, Aloysius.
* Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7
Cloud needs no introduction. He's one of the most beloved protagonists in video game history and is without a doubt the most well-known Final Fantasy character. Known for his big-ass sword, cold attitude, and his ability to attract the hottest girls in his world. Happy Birthday, Cloud.

August 20th:
* Kristy Thomas from The Baby-Sitters Club books.
This is another series I used to read sometimes as a kid. I wasn't as into it as Percy Jackson, but I remember it being cute. Kristy is the founder and leader of the titular club. She's also the token tomboy, being into sports. While doing research I found out there are 131 books in this series published within 14 years. Not even counting the spin-off series. Anyway, Happy Birthday, Kristy

August 21st:
* Hon-Fu from the Fatal Fury series.
First appearing in the 3rd game, Hon-Fu is a detective from Hong Kong who wields nunchucks. He's incredibly badass, but he does have a goofy side. He also sometimes lights his weapon on fire as if he wasn't already cool enough. Happy Birthday, Hon-Fu
* Rika Furude from the Higurashi series.
Ah, Higurashi. I'm infamously a wimp so I had to stop watching after the second story arc. So I don't honestly know much about Rika. But she seems chill. I'm sure she's the one moé girl in the series who doesn't go on a killing spree. Happy Birthday, Rika.
* Ritsu Tainaka from K-On!
Well, I'm sure this cute anime girl isn't a demon in disguise. Ritsu is the president of the music club and the drummer of the band. She's the fun upbeat one. Happy Birthday, Ritsu.

August 22nd:
* Kyosuke Munakata from Danganronpa 3
The Former Ultimate Student Council President, and later a key figure in the Future Foundation. His role is sort of as a rival to the main character Makoto, as they have a battle of Hope. He's also a master swordsman for some reason. Happy Birthday, Kyosuke.

August 23rd:
* Cyber Six from the comic and animated series of the same name. It's also the birthday of her panther companion Data-7.
This is one of my favorite animated shows, unfortunately it only lasted 1 season of 13 episodes so I hope I can spread some love to it. It also has an amazing theme song. Go watch it on YouTube. Cyber Six is a female superhero who disguises as a man for her civilian life. Which may or may not have awakened something in me. Happy Birthday, Cyber Six and Data 7

August 24th:
* Arisa Mitaka from 801 T.T.S. Airbats or Aozora Shōjotai.
Gonna be real, struggled to find a character I knew whose birthday was the 24th. In fact, out of all the characters I mentioned so far Arisa is the only one I didn't know anything about beforehand. But...she looked super cute and I love her already. I'm a simple person who just likes cute anime women. This series is apparently a manga, later adapted into a 7 episode OVA, about a harem of female pilots. Arisa is apparently the cold troublemaker in the group. She gets into fights with the others constantly. But deep down she's a softie in love with the main protagonist. She's the tsundere essentially it seems, and that's one of my favorite archetypes. Anyway, she has a cool design and she seems awesome. Happy Birthday, Arisa.

And that wraps up this week. Of course, there are tons of characters I may have missed or didn't talk about for whatever reason. So I encourage you all to share your favorites, and maybe next year I'll get to them. But to all fictional characters celebrating birthdays this week, whether I showcased you or not, I wish you all a Happy Birthday. And to all real people celebrating birthdays this week...
Fuck you. You're not as important.
Just kidding, just kidding. Happy Birthday to you too. Hope you have an amazing week.

And that wraps up this week's chat. In the future, I may add more segments, but this should give you all a general idea about what this will be all about. Thank you all for reading, and I hope you have an amazing week. See you next week for another lovely chat. Buh-Bye!

Episode 2: August 25th, 2024-August 31st, 2024
Hello, hello broskis. Welcome to the second episode of the RNF Weekly Chat. The blog series that updates every Sunday here on the Home Page where we talk about different things. But before we get to that, let's take a look at the content I'm releasing this week.

Weekly Schedule:
....

Yeah, I got nothing for you this week. Sorry. Next week will definitely make up for it though. Just this week I need some time to work on some personal stuff that I don't really want to get into. But next week we'll get back into trying to catch up on RNF Pokémon Quests episodes, and, as promised on the RNF Direct, next week will also begin the next series: RNF Games.
I do have a sort of shitpost video recorded that I might post sometime this week just to fill in the gaps. In not it will probably be next week. See I accidentally doxxed myself in the footage and I'm trying to figure out the YouTube editor to fix it, lol. If I can't I'll just use my copy of Vegas to fix it, but it would just be so much simpler if YouTube wanted to work with me. To be fair though, I haven't given it a super genuine attempt yet. It's just a dumb 7-hour video idea I thought would be funny but mostly just based on the idea rather than the actual content, so I haven't put much time into fixing it.
Don't think I'm just sitting on my ass and doing nothing with content creation in this next week. I am, it's just gonna be behind-the-scenes stuff. And making the shitpost post-able will be one of the things I work on. I'll also be editing the first batch of RNF Games episodes this week, and of course, gotta make some thumbnails for maximum clickability. And remember, Danganronpa: LIVe or Die returns on the 9th, and I'm still in the process of getting those last few episodes recorded. In case you're wondering about my progress, I beat Chapter 4 and the Daily Life of Chapter 5. Leaving me with 3-4 more episodes left to record. That may seem like I'm keeping at a good pace, but I do have a feeling these last few will be incredibly time-consuming to record, as they'll have a lot of plot. I may be wrong, but either way, I can already tell this set of upcoming episodes is going to be super exciting for both me and you guys.
So while this week may not have anything new, I hope I planted the seed of excitement for the things coming out in the following ones.

Song of the Week:

The Ballad of Barry Allen by Jim's Big Ego

I first heard this song on a random YouTube Music playlist while at work. Because I was busy I wasn't getting on my phone much so when this song came on I had no idea what its title was, and thus no idea what it was about. But fuck, that soft guitar at the start that plays such a melancholic tune just captured me immediately. From that first note, I was enchanted. Then a somber story about a hero who feels out of place in time begins. I eventually looked at my phone halfway through the song and eventually figured out what it was about, but I think it says a lot about how into it I was even without that context.
Believe it or not, The Ballad of Barry Allen is about Barry Allen. AKA The Flash. The second and, without a doubt, the most famous incarnation of the DC superhero too. This song is a unique yet tragic take on the character. About how alienated Barry feels from the people he tries to protect. The song tells stories about Barry heroically saving the day. Catching a woman jumping off a bridge, and dodging bullets to beat the baddie. Things that should be gratifying and incredible feats, but it's juxtaposed with an overarching sadness. I'm not the biggest fan of The Flash, but he usually seems like a more happy and fun character, at least in the adaptations I've seen. I know he has some tragedy to him, I mean his mom was murdered right and he was dead for years after Crisis on Infinite Earths, but despite it all, he still seems pretty upbeat. In fact, while doing some research I saw a quote by Batman: "Barry is the kind of man that I would've hoped to become if my parents had not been murdered."
Which I think really puts Barry into perspective. Barry's been through tragedy but he just seems like a chill dude. Especially to a more casual fan like me. So it's neat to hear a bit of a sadder side to him, that I think still fits his character. I think even more hardcore Flash fans could get into it too. I think what makes it great is it's not just all sad. It "shows" Flash being the hero he is still, and it has a theme that I think we can relate to. The passage of time is a bitch. Just with Flash it moves slower as opposed to going too fast like most people complain about. Either way though, Flash still feels like things are slipping away from him. If anything it might be worse for him. Everything is so agonizingly slow. Any pain felt probably lasts for an eternity in his eyes too. Despite it all, and the regrets he may have, he still does his job as the hero his city needs. So while it may not be the best situation it's still weirdly inspiring in some way. At least the way I interrupt it. Though it goes into detail about how he wishes he could get to know the people he saves, so maybe he also feels a bit alienated from his position as a superhero because he can't stand still long enough to see how much good he actually does. I think this song really did give me more of a love for this character that I didn't really have before. I think what helps with how real this feels to the character, is who Jim is. His full name is Jim Infantino and that's important because he's actually the nephew of Barry Allen's creator, Carmine Infantino. In fact, the art you're seeing for the album in the video was created by Carmine. The video was also posted a day after Carmine passed away. It really does seem Jim and him were close and this was his way of not only honoring his uncle, but the iconic character Carmine brought to life.
It's thanks to this passion that Jim was able to bring Barry's story into an interesting direction with absolutely beautiful and creative writing and phenomenal themes. I'm not familiar with the rest of Jim's Big Discography, but if they're even half as good as this song then I'm missing out.
Anyway, please check out this lovely song with a wholesome story behind it.

This Week's Character Birthdays:

August 25th:
* Axel Foley from the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
The main character from the series, portrayed by Eddie Murphy. Also the name inspiration for the hit song from the movie, Axel F. I hate to admit it, but every time I hear it I think of Crazy Frog. Blame my mom for letting me watch Crazy Frog, but not R-rated movies. Even though that amphibian clearly had a penis. For way too long I thought it was a Crazy Frog original song. Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh right! Happy Birthday, Axel. And congrats on that new movie too. Haven't seen it yet, but  I heard good things.
* Voldo from the Soulcalibur series.
A creepy-looking guy with sick ass katar hands, known for his unique movements and his lack of speaking. Happy Birthday, Voldo.

August 26th:
* Ruka Sarashina from Rent-a-Girlfriend.
I don't know much about this series honestly. But it is a show I want to watch at some point. I heard the manga took a weird turn, but the anime seems to be pretty loved. And hey I really respect that the characters aren't high schoolers. Not only does that make it a little more unique compared to the sea of high school anime, but it makes the fanservice a little more comfor...wait what was that?
...
Ruka's in high school...She's the only one in the main cast who is.
Ok well...had to shove in one underage girl in there I guess. Great.
Well ignoring her unfortunate circumstances she seems like a character I'd like and I do enjoy her design. She's a brash, honest character but of course, deep down she cares for her friends and love interest. An adult love interest...but again whatever. Now's not the time. Happy Birthday, Ruka.

August 27th:
* Nina Einstein from Code Geass.
Wow, people really hate this character. Huh? In fact, here's a choice quote I found from Reddit r/CodeGeass. "An absolutly insane, perverted, racist, annoying, freakshow that has an obsession rivaling a yandere."
...
"Overall not a bad character." Happy Birthday, Nina.
* Sayuri Kurosawa from Danganronpa: LIVe or Die.
Coincidentally, one of my favorite characters from the Danganronpa fan game we're playing through has a birthday today. Honestly might be my second favorite, after Ayaka. Sayuri is the Ultimate Movie Director, and loves to narrate her actions. She's a very cute and charming character. Happy Birthday, Sayuri.

August 28th:
Uh....I couldn't find any character I was familiar with or seemed super cool to me. Sorry August 28thers.
Uhh...Happy Birthday, Chrissy from Animal Crossing. She's a Peppy Rabbit.
...
That is all...

August 29th:
Jesus Christ, I'm struggling out here right now. I must consume more media apparently.
Fuck it, another Animal Crossing character. Gruff is a cranky goat. Happy Birthday, Gruff.

August 30th:
* Ryota Mitarai from Danganronpa 3.
Man, I talk about this series a lot huh? Ryota is the Ultimate Animator who starts off as feeble and cowardly before growing a bit more of a backbone near the end. I won't say too much as he is an important character. But Happy Birthday, Ryota.

August 31st:
Ok, this day will make up for the lack of birthdays so far.

* Jaiden/Judai Yuki from Yu-Gi-Oh GX
The main protagonist of the second incarnation of the main Yu-Gi-Oh anime, and a lover of the Elemental Hero archetype. I love this kid, even if he is incredibly goofy at times. One of the best arcs for a Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist as well. Happy Birthday, Jaiden/Judai.
* Motherfucking, Hatsune Miku!
I don't need to tell you who she is! She's a legend! A goddess. This is her world, and we're graciously being allowed to live in it. Coincidentally too, there's an art trend on Twitter right now drawing Miku's from cultures all over the world. This spawned from a post by @thecat_mitsu who drew a really cute Brazilian Miku. So if you want to see a bunch of cool Miku art Twitter is the place to be. I've seen a lot of great stuff in the last few days. Man, I wish I could draw. Anyway...Happy Birthday, Miku.
* Professor Plum from Cluedo/Clue.
One of the playable characters. Depending on the media he can be an archaeologist, an Egyptologist, a psychiatrist, or even a pianist. He's usually seen as some sort of professor though. Happy Birthday, Edgar Plum.
* Renji Abarai from Bleach.
One of the Soul Reapers that starts off as an opposing force in the first major arc, but of course later becomes an ally to Ichigo and the gang. He's the lieutenant of the 6th Division and uses one of the coolest swords in a series known for its cool-ass sword. Happy Birthday, Renji.
....
Oh, and Kiyotaka Ishimaru has a birthday this day as well. But I've talked enough about Danganronpa today. So...happy birthday, Kiyotaka

And of course, if you have a birthday this week Happy Birthday to you too.

Well, that ends this week's chat. Sorry, it was so late. Shit is rough right now, but I'm balling so don't worry about me. Things will definitely look up this next week. I have a lot of stuff I'm looking forward to with RNF Games, LIVe or Die returning, and the more progress I make on this blog the happier I feel. I just realized this also makes it look like I have nothing in my real life happening, outside of YouTube, so if you're worrying about that don't. I promise I'm fine this week just sucked. Like I said, for example, I'm hoping to leave my shitty job soon so that's always a plus.

Anyway this next week I plan to work a lot on some personal stuff as well as behind-the-scenes things. Including getting more videos archived on the blog so keep your eyes out for that.
This week may have been shit, but this feeling of properly getting this thing I've been wanting for so long now finally getting started overshadows all of that, and I can't wait for what the future brings.
Thank you all for watching. Love you all and have a great day! Buh-bye!
